Soft skills in Tourism
Depending on the company’s focus, the following trainings on Soft Skills are the most
dominant requirements for tourism stakeholders and include
- communication skills,
- customer service
- language skills
- diversity and accessibility skills
- cultural etiquette
- environmental awareness skills and
- age-related skills.
Communication skills
Communication skills training needs to differentiate between
a) face-to-face communication skills and
b) digital communication skills
There are a set of commonly shared principles with regard to communication such as active
listening, establishing rapport, adjusting the register, and respecting the intervention of others.
In the terms of the DigComp Framework this means to interact, communicate and collaborate
through digital technologies while being aware of cultural and generational diversity. To
