Travel Agencies:
The travel agency sector started working with computers more than 30 years ago with the
emergence of the Global Distribution System.
However, the current digital transformation
experienced by travel agencies and the normalised
private use of the internet and its travel booking
opportunities requires the travel agency sector to
adapt to far more sophisticated and consumer-
friendly systems that offer specialised services not
openly available to the consumer via the internet.
"The challenge of small and medium-sized travel
agencies is to make the entire management and

sales process an experience. In the end, the client
stays with you for the treatment and security you bring," says José Arias, CEO of Travel Loop
and president of the Association ICT Travel Agencies of Spain (ATICAV).
Hotels and accommodation
Hotels and accommodation providers formerly only relied on travel agencies, tourist offices
and word of mouth. This situation has now
changed dramatically and the booking of hotels
or other accommodation is mostly done online,
either directly through major platforms such as
booking.com, Airbnb, Trivago, etc. or directly
through the providers own webpage. Staff

providers therefore need to have a high level of
digital skills that can deal with this customer
acquisition form. SOURCED FROM ADOBE STOCK 4
Furthermore there are many internal processes in
this sector digitalised, e.g. room allocation, invoicing, internal planning and calculation, etc.
