Digital skills requirements in the tourism sector

In line with the Digital Competence Framework, the most important competence areas for the

               tourism sector are

               - Information and data literacy in general
               - Communication and collaboration skills

               - Digital content creation , and
               - Safety

Developing digital content as well as integrating and re-elaborating digital content through an
array of different medias and design skills are especially important in this sector as the overall

aim is to engage the clients and offer a personalized experience. The specialization,
personalization and customization of the user experience can help SMEs in this sector to

compete with larger companies with more resources. Protecting devices and protecting

personal data and privacy are also important for this sector, but in general tourism enterprises
have some security systems already implemented.

Sustainability and digitalisation in the tourism sector

Increasingly important for the tourism sector are various aspects of sustainability and to

protect the environment. Implementing this paradigm through digitalization can generate an

added value of the products offered by stakeholders, enabling them to make their offer more
               attractive and increase their competitivity.
