3.2. THE STRUCTURE OF ONLINE EDUCATION
UNESCO Türkiye National Commission (2020) shared the following recommendations on
30.03.2020 for the sound execution of distance education practices:
1- Choosing the most suitable technologies for the current situation based on the state of
readiness when determining the high or low technologies to be selected for use,
2- Taking inclusive measures to ensure students' access to online education programs,
3- Taking necessary precautions for data privacy,
4- Taking into consideration the factors such as the region, education level etc. while
planning the timeframe for online education programs,
5- Taking the necessary measures against psycho-social difficulties,
6- Providing support trainings on the use of digital tools,
7- Preventing overloading of students and data by combining and blending appropriate
approaches and limiting the number of applications and platforms,
8- Determining the appropriate rules for online learning and providing the feedback that
students need,
9- Arranging the duration of the online education units based on students’ self-regulation
skills,
10- Discussing the problems encountered in the process by creating communities that
include teachers, parents and school administrators.
3.3. ONLINE EDUCATION AND WEB 2.0 TOOLS
The term Web 2.0 was coined by O'Reilly Media in 2003 to refer to a new way of sharing
information on the Internet. The new form of expression in Web 2.0 can be expressed as the
free and easy sharing of the content produced and developed by the users themselves. Another
convenience provided by Web 2.0 technology is that users can share information without
encountering technical obstacles by making use of the collaborative and social interaction
environment via the Internet. Thanks to these benefits, the use of web 2.0 tools, which is
increasing day by day, has become inevitable for education. Web 2.0 tools provide great
advantages and convenience to students and teachers in the educational environment.
Teachers can use web 2.0 tools to give feedback to students more easily. For this reason, web
2.0 tools are seen as a technology that contributes to innovation and transformation in
