Time is a universal resource that dominates individuals of all professions. Time management
is the realization of the plans formed in the mind day by day by putting them into daily life.
9.1. PLANNING THE TIME
The main goal in time management is to organize and plan how to divide your time between
various tasks and activities. Planning and using time in the most efficient way prevents
various problems.
Time management means planning our time in such a way that we can carry out our goals,
responsibilities, pleasures and activities of our social life together. Learning to plan the time
correctly is a necessary step to devote time to all the things we want to do in our lives and to
live as far away from stress as possible. It is necessary to learn the difference between being
busy and being productive, how to plan ahead, how to deal with time-wasting things.
Uğur (2000) states the habits that need to be acquired in order to use time effectively as
follows:
-Having clear goals and objectives
-Planning
-Setting priorities
-Conducting emergency situation assessments
9.2. FACTORS THAT AFFECT TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS
Perfectionism: The perfectionist experiences great disappointment when things don't go well,
quits work, and falls into despair. Again, such a person cannot be satisfied with his work
because he sets unrealistic goals for himself, and cannot take action because of his high
expectations. Having a goal of being an “excellent” time planner in time management is
synonymous with disappointment and giving up after a short while. It's important to be
flexible and consider potential setbacks when setting goals.
Procrastination: This behavior is one of the biggest obstacles to planning the time. Each
postponed job affects another. Postponing things like tidying the room, going to the
barbershop, calling a friend we've been wanting to call for a long time, going shopping,
buying a birthday present for a friend, etc., causes other more important tasks (studying,
preparing the term paper, etc.) to be postponed. Likewise, postponing important tasks can
cause major disruption to our daily work. This vicious circle goes on and on, and one day it
